Halima Umar

Halima is a lawyer with a tenacity for innovation, team building and service excellence.

She is a professional with over 18 years of demonstrable experience in the Pension Industry, with expertise spanning Business Development, Administration, Relationship Management, Dispute Resolution, Legal Advisory and Secretariat Services.

Halima joined FCMB Pensions Limited in December 2019 as the Deputy Company Secretary.

Prior to that, she worked with Sigma Pensions Limited from 2007 to 2019, where she held various functions spanning marketing, administration, Company Secretariat and Legal Services. She served as Head of Unit in the Company Secretariat & Legal Department from 2009 to 2017, before becoming the pioneer Relationship Management Team Lead for the Kano Hub, comprising Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States. In this capacity, she was also responsible for supervising the activities of the Benefit Administration, Customer Care and ICT Units of the Hub.

She holds an MBA with a specialisation in Sustainability from Nexford University, a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Bayero University Kano (BUK), and a Barrister-at-Law (B.L) from the Nigerian Law School.

She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the Association of Professional Negotiators and Mediators (APNM), and is also an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN).
